Enga Ooru - Mayavaram

This photo is not from any travel destination in a bucket list, but rather it's my home where my dad grew up. My top priority when it comes to visiting places is always Mayavaram/Mayiladuthurai, which I love. <3

Do you know why Mayiladuthurai is called by that name? The locals say that during the monsoon season, peacocks bloom their feathers and dance in the rain. I have personally seen peacocks running on the roads and even staying in the house opposite to ours. It's a very common sight in this area.

This photo is of the ghee roast that I ate, and it was delicious. The other photo is of one of the potholes on the highway, which I think is near Saravana Bhavan or Sangeeta.

This photo is of the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Club where my dad used to play cricket and football, among other sports. Unfortunately, the club has been renovated so much that they no longer allow common people inside. We had to plead to be allowed in, and we weren't even allowed to take pictures.

There is also a municipal high school in May where my great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all studied.

The trip and photos below are from the last time I visited Mayavaram. On our way back home, we saw a caravan burning, and I didn't want to miss out on the spectacle. Luckily, nobody was harmed.

This house our home and the pictures below has been aesthetically clicked by me

This is our Parimala ranganathar (our family god)

Let’s proceed..

goats goats everywhere

The temples in Mayavaram are incredibly old, some more than 500 years old. The intricate carvings on each stone are a testament to the incredible skills of the artisans who created them. It's amazing to see how beautifully each and every detail has been carved to perfection. Say hello to Sri Krishna from Mayavaram!

This was the last stay at his house and it is no longer there :(.

Been so old we were forced to demolish it (so heart breaking). Lasted for more than 75 years

This photo shows a beautiful field that we saw on our way back, in Cuddalore.

This is one amazing picture from Hanuman Temple

Okay see ya’all folks!
