Have you heard the famous Tamil hit song, "Semmozhiyana Tamil Mozhiyaa"? If not, I highly recommend giving it a listen and visiting the places it celebrates. These locations are pillars of Tamil culture, especially Kanyakumari.

I was lucky enough to witness the breathtaking sunset in Kanyakumari and plan to return to see the sunrise as well. While I don't have many photos, the memories are vivid in my mind and I want to share them before they fade away.

The peninsula in Kanyakumari is just as we imagine it to be - beautiful and awe-inspiring. The Shiva temple, where the water level rises during the day and lowers in the morning for devotees to have darshan, is particularly spellbinding.

I'm not entirely sure which fort this photo is from, but I remember seeing an image like it during my travels.

The Vellore Golden Temple is by far the most impressive temple I've ever visited, second only to the Akshardham temple in Delhi (which I'll cover in another tour). I remember a large chariot (Theru) that carried the gods through town, made entirely of gold. These temples are magnificent marvels of Tamil Hindu tradition. The temple has various entrances and the walls, doors, and more are all made of gold (like a 2.0 version of the Amritsar Golden Temple).

The photo above shows the temple during the day, while the one below shows it at night. Have you visited the VIT Campus in Chennai? The walkways around the Golden Temple are similar to those around the campus - a large, beautiful area with decorative gardens and fountains that provide cool air 24/7. Once you pass through the crowds, you'll see the most beautiful and adorable goddess, Sri Lakshmi Narayani.

Forgot to mention the heavenly fragrance of flowers and the golden chandeliers that reflect the light. It truly is a magical experience.
